NY: Le Jardin Du Roi, a Clinton Favorite
“A recipe has no soul. You as the cook must bring soul to the recipe.” – Thomas Keller
After my training in New York City, I ventured to the suburbs to visit my friend, Erin, and her family. One night, Erin and I hit a French restaurant in a neighboring town, Chappaqua. The Clintons often frequent the place we went to, Le Jardin Du Roi.
When we arrived, the place was packed. We put in our name and headed across the street to Starbucks. It was a rainy night, so we needed a warm, cozy place to kill some time before dinner.
Travel tip: As the restaurant is quite popular, make a reservation.
Le Jardin Du Roi was super cute inside. We started with some tasty escargots, which are snails in a garlic and parsley sauce. They were delicious. For my main course, I ordered the cuisses de canard confit, otherwise known as duck leg confit with honey sauce, served with grilled asparagus and potato gratin. I was delighted by my meal. And for dessert? The homemade warm brownie a la mode, of course…
Although we did not run into any former presidents, we enjoyed a wonderful meal. The restaurant was a great place to savor fantastic French cuisine, share stories and enjoy each other’s company. I would definitely recommend this place to those visiting Westchester County.
