Gina Pacelli at El Farallon“A meal is the whole experience of getting together and sharing with friends. It is more than food.” – Jinny Fleischman

I love eating great food with close friends. I love sharing stories and being silly. Even better, I love when the ambiance enhances the entire experience.

When I read the article, 35 Most Amazing Restaurants With A View, I was intrigued by El Farallon. The restaurant is located in the side of a mountain overlooking the ocean and serves seafood. Located in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, there was no reason why my friends and I could not check it out during our visit. We made a reservation.

Our reservation fell after a full day of snorkeling at Pelican Beach. We did not have time to go back to our hotel. Instead, we wiped the sand off of our sun-kissed bodies and changed in the parking lot. I was reminded of when Leann and I used to do this in our early 20s during our travels. I felt nostalgic and youthful again.

L, Gina & Brian at El Farallon, Cabo, MexicoWe drove through a mountain tunnel, pulled up to the valet, and were escorted to our destination. The view was spectacular — a kaleidoscope of mountains and ocean.

When we were seated, Brian ordered champagne — a perfect start to our evening. Our waiter t brought us to look at the fish, which came from the Pacific Ocean and Sea of Cortez. Leann and I ordered seafood, and Brian ordered steak.

The seafood was extremely inexpensive for the quality, with prices ranging from $30 to $40. It was fresh and delicious. Brian’s steak was okay, but not worth the premium price of $85 he paid. Check out the menu.

Travel tip: Order fresh seafood in Cabo. The quality is superb. I promise; you will be happy with your choice.

Our meals came with complimentary soup and appetizers — all of which were delightful. The soup was flavorful and filled with fresh seafood.

The appetizers consisted of fresh ceviche, shrimp and Caesar salad – all were amazing and tickled our pallets. The sound of the waves crashing against the mountains soothed our souls as we continued to sip on our champagne.

Our meals were accompanied by flavorful dipping sauces. I took a bite of my sea bass, and I was in heaven. It was tasty and amazingly fresh. The risotto was a great compliment to my meal.

How valid is my opinion on food? Well, I was once told I am a food snob. While having lunch with a few co-workers, we discussed our meals. My companions loved their meals, whereas I stated, “mine is okay, but not great.” Based on the homemade dishes I have brought to the office, my co-workers assumed I ate very well. They were right. I am lucky because the women in my family have always been fantastic cooks. Thus, my standards are a lot higher than the norm. I can find something to eat anywhere I dine, but very few dishes truly impress me. My meal at El Farallon was definitely brag worthy. Brian’s dinner was not.

Before leaving, we made a pit stop to the restroom. Of course the bathroom setting was one of the most interesting I have seen…

I would definitely recommend El Farallon in Cabo, Mexico. The location was incredible, the seafood was delicious, and the price was right. The place is tucked away, and I do not think it is well-known. Go taste, explore, and brag about Cabo’s secret culinary delight. You will be the envy of your friends when you whip out your pictures and share your story.
