Kennebunkport, Maine
“Road trips are measured by moments rather than miles.”
Kennebunkport, Maine is full of New England charm. Being an ocean lover, I was very excited when my travels took me to this cute, little town situated along the seashore.
Before heading to my hotel, the Kennebunkport Inn, I found the ocean. Although the weather chilled my bones, I took a stroll along Gooch’s Beach. One of the perks of traveling during off-season is the lack of crowds. Gooch’s Beach was all mine.
Next, I explored downtown. I wandered through the shops, watched the boats sail by, and caught the sun setting over the water. The town offered one-of-a-kind gifts, specialty coffee shops, homemade ice cream, and pretty views.
One particular store I wanted to check out was The Hut, recommended by friend, Angela. She is the founder of Off-Shore Designs, and she sells her fun, beach-inspired, handmade jewelry there. I wanted to see her bracelets on display, as well as check out their other offerings. I already had an OS bracelet, so I bought a potent, soy, vanilla candle.
For dinner, I wanted lobster. After all, I was in Maine. I pulled out my iPhone and searched the internet. When researching food, I look for articles and see what I am drawn to. Eater Maine’s 11 Hot Places to Eat and Drink in Kennebunkport popped up in my search results, and I opted for David’s KPT. I have tried a handful of places, and I have gravitated back at David’s KPT. Obviously, I enjoy the food. This trendy place also boasts spectacular views of the water.
I have a sweet tooth. Chocolate and ice cream are my favorites, especially European chocolates and homemade ice cream. The write-up in the above mentioned article intrigued me, so I opted for a sweet treat at Rococo Artisan Ice Cream. They have all sorts of unique flavors, including goat cheese, whoopie pie, and olive oil. I sampled a few of their specialties before having my usual, chocolate. I was in oral heaven.
Would I recommend a getaway to Kennebunkport? Absolutely. If you enjoy the ocean, quaint towns, lobster, and shopping, then check out this New England gem.
