I come from an extremely talented group of cooks. As a kid, my mom wanted to teach me how to make all of the yummy Greek recipes. Unfortunately, I was too stubborn to learn. After all, I once set toast on fire. Now, I am trying to figure them out before the traditions of my youth fade away.
Ingredients:
- 1 box of filo
- 7 cups of milk
- 2 cups of sugar
- 1 cup Farina (this is found in the baby cereal section)
- 6 eggs
- 1.5 sticks of butter
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
Syrup Ingredients:
- 2 cups of sugar
- 2.5 cups of water
- 1 cinnamon stick
Directions:
- Heat up the milk and sugar (turn oven to low).
- Mix in the Farina.
- Mix in the eggs (scramble them first).
- Mix in the vanilla.
- Mix in the half stick of butter.
- Mix until the mixture is thick, then remove it from the stove.
- Preheat the oven to bake at 375 degrees.
- Add butter to the bottom of your pan.
- Cut the filo dough in half, and add a spoon of the mixture to the cut dough.
- Wrap the mixture in the dough, then add some melted butter to the outside.
- Fill up the pan, then bake on 375 degrees.
- Put all of the syrup ingredients in a pot and heat (on low).
- Once the dessert cools, add the syrup to the individual pieces.
