I come from an extremely talented group of cooks. As a kid, my mom wanted to teach me how to make all of the yummy Greek recipes. Unfortunately, I was too stubborn to learn. After all, I once set toast on fire. Now, I am trying to figure them out before the traditions of my youth fade away.

Ingredients:

  • 1 box of filo
  • 7 cups of milk
  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 1 cup Farina (this is found in the baby cereal section)
  • 6 eggs
  • 1.5 sticks of butter
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla

Syrup Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 2.5 cups of water
  • 1 cinnamon stick

Directions:

  • Heat up the milk and sugar (turn oven to low).
  • Mix in the Farina.
  • Mix in the eggs (scramble them first).
  • Mix in the vanilla.
  • Mix in the half stick of butter.
  • Mix until the mixture is thick, then remove it from the stove.
  • Preheat the oven to bake at 375 degrees.
  • Add butter to the bottom of your pan.
  • Cut the filo dough in half, and add a spoon of the mixture to the cut dough.
  • Wrap the mixture in the dough, then add some melted butter to the outside.
  • Fill up the pan, then bake on 375 degrees.
  • Put all of the syrup ingredients in a pot and heat (on low).
  • Once the dessert cools, add the syrup to the individual pieces.
