The Journey

After an amazing few days in Athens, our plan was to visit Paxos. We had to wake up super early, drive five hours to Igoumenitsa, then take a boat to the island. Our bodies felt like lead, but our eyes sparkled in anticipation of the adventure ahead.

As we had plenty of time to spare, we strolled along the ocean. When time was nearing for us to board our boat, we went back to the car and waited for direction. Joanna and I were told to board the ship, while Dina had to park her car on-board.

As our boat whisked us into a sea of blue, I fought to keep my eyes open. At times, I would succumb to the salty air and rustling water, lulling me into a peaceful rest. Other times, I would gaze out into the deep blue. My body ached, but my skin tingled with excitement. I could sense Dina and Joanna were experiencing similar sensations.

Hello, Paxos!

We were soon rewarded with pristine, crystal-blue water, and a gorgeous island. We de-boarded and hopped into Dina’s car. Off to Lakka we drove, one of the prettiest spots on the island. We changed, and off to the beach we ventured.

Time to Explore

The walk to the beach was stunning. Joanna is like me; she likes to take a lot of pictures. There were so many beautiful spots along the way. We could have just walked all day and explored. However, our bodies were begging for some salt and sun therapy.

The Beach

The water was calm, clear, and sprinkled with magnificent shades of aquamarine. Instead of sand, the beach was composed of rocks. Thus, we wore water shoes to walk around and go swimming. We laid on mats. The warmth of the sun and gentle waves lulled our bodies into a peaceful rest.

After a sinful dose of vitamin D, Dina tapped me on the shoulder. She asked if I was ready to explore the other gems of the island. Although I could have stayed in our spot forever, my curiosity was piqued. Where would she lead us? What adventures awaited us? As I packed up my stuff, my eyes lingered on the raw beauty that surrounded me. A smile played upon my lips, and off we went.

Thankful

Our island escapades in Paxos were off to a fabulous start. I was thankful to be with my sister, Dina and niece, Joanna in such a magical place. Miles apart, I am unable to see them often. To spend some quality time in the tropics was a dream come true.

As Dina knows I love travel and new experiences, her gift to me was this island getaway. Thank you, Dina, for your love and generosity. This was a dream come true. Thank you, Dina and Joanna, for the wonderful memories.
